I left my beautiful little island yesterday with tears in my eyes as I took the fast boat back to Bali to catch my flight out of Indonesia.
In 3 weeks I’d experienced more than I ever could have imagined; from the national silent day upon my arrival, to Ubud rice fields and spas, traditional Balinese dance performances, the way Muslims and Hindus live amongst each other in total peace and respect without passing judgement, breathtaking beaches and a people so beautiful that taught me so many things about life when they didn’t even know it. Indonesia is by far the best country I’ve ever visited and now I know why so many people visit here and never leave. I contemplated skipping my short 2 week trip to the Philippines and staying on Gili Meno but I know that all good things come to an end and if I stayed, there would come a time where I would feel just as sad to leave as I do today. I need to keep moving further on but I will be back, I will be back!
I bought a painting from this guy that is of a Gili Meno sunset. His shirt basically sums up my stay and what I learned in this beautiful country of 17,000 islands and 700 languages. “Be in love with your life, every minute of it”
