My Drive To Ubud

After Seminyak I decided to head to Ubud, one of the most well-known cities in all of Bali. I heard there were some cool sights inbetween the 2 cities so I hired a driver for the day to take me around before dropping me off in Ubud.

We first went to Tanah Lot, a temple on the water. It sits on an off-shore rock and has been continuously shaped over the years by the sea. The location was a tropical paradise, the waves were crashing up against the shore, birds were circling above, incense was floating through the air, the plants were in full bloom and the Balinese were giving flower offerings at the temple.Adding to the tropical paradise was the heat that would not let up. After 5 minutes of being outside I was covered in a glistening sheen of sweat and my clothes were soaked as if I had just jumped in my parent’s swimming pool. Welcome to Bali!

From there were saw some other beautiful temples along with one of the many famous rice fields.

Jatiluwih rice field, a Unesco World Heritage Sight. It was so beautiful it looked like an instagram picture.

For lunch my driver suggested a buffet restaurant and I asked him if he could take me to somewhere away from the tourists where locals go. So he took me to “warung” which is like a roadside stand that served traditional Balinese Babi Guling which is BBQ pork served in all different styles. We pulled up and went inside and everyone looked at me like “what is a westerner doing here”. I felt like Anthony Bordain in “No Reservations” They brought the food out and it was delicious and it only cost $2 bucks!

Please disregard my sweatiness in all the photos, I was dying!
