On The Road Again!

My round the world trip is halfway over and I know that time is going to start to fly. I’ve recently come to the realization that 3 months is a good amount of time to travel and 6 months is a really LONG time to travel especially when one is constantly moving. I took a 4 hour red-eye flight to Manila, the capital city of the Philippines and I don’t know if it was the lack of sleep or being in a huge city but my heart was still back in Indonesia, I hope I had made the right decision to come here.

It’s amazing to me that such a short flight can take you to a place that is so completely different; from language, to food to religion. In America a 4 hour flight would get me from New York to

Houston! Here I was coming from a country that didn’t eat pork to a country that serves pork in almost every dish! The predominant religion here is Catholic (which is a first in the past 4 months) and FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY since I’ve left the States, I am in a country where they drive on the right-hand side of the road and oddly enough it feels a bit strange!

I stayed in Manila for one night and it almost felt like I was in America. Everyone speaks English with barely any accent and many of the TV stations and radios stations in cabs are in English, the prices in this big city were equivalent to American prices too, not something I was too happy about. Maybe it will be better once I get out of a big city.

I’m currently sitting in a cafe right now and have no motivation to do anything except day dream from where I just came from. Tomorrow I’m catching a flight to Coron which is supposed to be a beautiful beach town in the Palawan islands of the Philippines. Lets hope it can make me forget about where I just came from and get me back to a happy place!

Intromurus, the oldest district and historic core of Manila. This is where the Spanish first settled when they came to the Philippines.
